  Did being a JW teach your children to lie?

  when i was young and in school, i would often lie to questions my friends asked me.

  things like "what did you get for christmas" or "are you comming to the choir concert tonight" or "why can't you join track" or "why don't you eat our birthday treats".

  the list is endless.

  Great question.

  That was one of the things I really noticed about my daughter's JW ex-bf. He slid around all sorts of social questions and situations by telling lies or at the least, avoiding the truth. Very few people knew he was JW, and less knew how he was really supposed to be living. He slid around why he could never do anything with anyone outside of school, or why he never participated in any celebrations. Excuses of being broke or busy go a long way with teenagers.

  I found that he was incredibly deceptive, and no longer knew how much he did it. He didn't know how to be straightforward and honest. Because of that, anyone who really cared about this young man had no idea what he really thought. The double life was this extremely confused and secretly lonely, young man's way to cope.

  I feel so sorry for him.

  Hello Another guy,

  Remember that song...."Breaking up is Hard to Do"...no wait, you are way too young to remember that song.

  It's especially hard when you work together or go to school together. For most people, you need space to heal and gain emotional separation.

  It's time for me to be tough on you. She's right. You're broken up. Let her go. She has the right to be JW if that is what she wants, and .....it appears she does. Yes, her "head in the sand" behavior is typical of JWs.....but it is her choice. The more you bug her about stuff, the more validated she will feel as a JW, because she has been taught that persecution is to be expected. She's right, she isn't your gf anymore, she doesn't have to listen to you and you have to GET ON with your life.

  As the mother of a teenage daughter, I can tell you that it can get scary to girl when their ex-boyfriends won't leave then alone. It can make them feels touch threatened and stalked. It is creepy to them. Leave her alone.

  Your boss is right, too. Religion and romance haves no place in the workplace. It might not be just a normal breakup, but another guy, no breakup feels normal to the people involved. Don't allow your anger at the Watchtower and her to mess up your job.

  You are such a sweet young man, maybe it's better if you do move jobs and get some separation. You have been struggling with these issues since you broke up 2 months ago, and you are having trouble movong on. Maybe doing it physically, will help. I suspect you need to not see each other AT ALL.

  Go and do something positive for yourself. Join a gym, take a course, stay busy. Be fair, and let her go.

  Study gone bad

  i had my bible study today, it was about demons,anyway the sister said that those shows on tv.

  against jws are instigated by demons.. i told her about silent lambs and that it was true and had nothing to do with demons.

  unless it was the molesting demon elders she was refering to.

  JW literature table on campus

  as i've mentioned before - most weekday mornings the jws have a table set up by the fountain on campus at asu.

  i never see anybody talking to them.

  mostly they have just been sitting there with all the literature on display, talking to each other.. however, the last few days i've noticed something strange.

  Lolly, it is at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton. Unfortunately, as other religious groups are allowed to set up a table sometimes, it would be hard to ban the JWs. As much as they are immoral and unethical, they are not illegal.

  Trying to Believe in Love

  i am new to this, and any form of online chat, but reading some of your postings inspired me to write.

  i am even unsure how to check responses, but hopefully there will be some and i will learn.. i am completely torn.

  i have met the man of my dreams, and was told the other day that we would not work because he was looking to the future and could not imagine putting up a christmas tree and lights in his home.. when we met, i knew he was raised a witness, but he assured me he had not been to meetings in 8 years because he did not "feel it".

  Okay... How many of you ski or snowboard?

  i grew up on alpine ski's, took up snowboarding for a while, until it got incredibly boring, and now i've been into tele-skiing for about five years now.

  i just love it!

  before my accident, i could jump-telemark nearly any slope.

  My whole family skis. I 'm not very good and definitely a chicken. My kids are quite good and my husband is really good. Our family is heading off to Marmot Basin in Jasper National Park for this weekend.

  Older JW's and DF'd children

  anyone that has read my posts, knows that i am only child and that i have had a strained relationship at best with my mother since my dfing in the early 80's.

  now that my mother is getting up in years, what happens if she falls ill and needs to be cared for on a daily basis?

  i lie awake at night thinking about this.
